Being pregnant can be a wonderful thing . But for many individuals it can not be. It can be a very long nine months with alot of swelling and back pain. Hopefully this is just temporary and you do not have to worry about it. If you are experiencing back pain during your pregnancy, you do not want this to affect your delivery and make it a more difficult or painful experience.

However, back pain is going to be a huge factor in pregnancy for several women. For instance, if it is an ongoing pain for more than a few weeks or a month, you need to see your doctor to see what the problem may be.

There are a a few common back pains which seem to affect most pregnant women. Which include lumbar pain, which is lower back pain and posterior pelvic pain, which is more in the pelvic area. This latter seems to affect pregnant women. For many reasons, you will discover back pain because of the weight you are actually gaining. During pregnancy, several women gain so much weight in such a short amount of time. Your center of gravity is completely thrown off and your posture is not in the correct position anymore. Your muscles become fatigued because you are not holding your body as you once did.

Here are some activities that will cause lower back pain, as well. You should be a little more careful when doing anything, while you are pregnant. As your pregnancy progresses, watch how you perform the following walking and running, turning in bed, bending over forwards, twisting, lifting, and climbing stairs. You should make sure you take your time when trying to do any of these things to prevent your chance of getting lower back pain during your pregnancy.

There are several things that you can do to reduce some of the back pain you are experiencing until the delivery day comes. For example, you should never lay on your back. Always lay on your side. It is always recommended that you use your left side, however either side is better than your back. You can also use body pillows between your knees while you sleep. Which this will help with your lower back pain.

You should talk to to your physician and find out about a healthy diet and find out what is an adequate amount of weight that you should be gaining for your height and size. Don't use the excuse that I am pregnant and this means that I can eat whatever I want and gain alot of weight like crazy. The more weight you gain, the more stress you are putting on your body. Keep in mind that after you have the the baby you need to lose the weight too. So the more weight you put on the more weight you have to lose. Which this can be very hard to do any postpartum exercises if you are still experiencing a lot of back pain due to the weight gain which will also effect how you take care of your baby.

You will also want to wear comfortable shoes. A slip-on shoe works great so that you do not have to bend over to put it on.

For a more severe back pain that will not go away, you should go see your chiropractor or a massage therapist. Both are highly recommended for pregnancy and can do wonders. Massage therapy can reduce anxiety and depression which comes along with chronic pain. Massage therapy will also help you relax and reduce the stress. It can reduce the pain of muscle cramps, spasms and pain found in the lower back. Massage will increase blood circulation and lessen the amount of swelling.

Chiropractic care can help with having a healthier pregnancy. It can control those frustrating moments with nausea and increase the chances of having a full term delivery and it could help lessen the time of labor and delivery. It may also prevent you from having a cesarean. However, this type of therapy can help reduce your back and neck pain. But all chiropractors should be trained to work with pregnant women, so you do not have any thing to worry about.

While you are pregnant, you will want to do as little as possible take it easy. You do not want to be over active and hurt yourself. But at the same time, you do want to try and stay active. This is true if you were totally active before you became pregnant. Laying or sitting down is only going to worsen your back pain, so learn some easy exercises you can do or just go for a walk. You should always talk to your doctor before you start any exercise program or routine. The doctor will let you know what is safe to do and what you should be avoiding to do.
